Today, Wal-Marts all across the nation opened their new Christmas Stores and as part of the celebration The Salvation Army was invited to have their famous Red Kettle at each location.  Although the Red Kettle season has not officially started yet, Wal-Mart wanted to give the Army a little boost in a tough economic year.

The annual partnership with The Salvation Army was kick-off on Thursday when the Wal-Mart Foundation presented a $1.25 million check to Salvation Army National Commander, Commissioner Isreal Gaither.  The money will be equally divided between Salvation Army units across the United States.

Locally, The Salvation Army’s partnership with Wal-Mart continues as Wal-Mart will once again be the Tree Sponsor for the Army’s Tree of Lights Campaign.  You will see the Red Kettles outside of all Wal-Mart stores beginning November 20, when The Salvation Army kicks-off it’s annual Tree of Lights Campaign.
