This Thursday, The Salvation Army will kick-off its largest fund raising campaign of the year, the Tree of Lights. The ceremony will begin at 11:15 a.m. at The Salvation Army’s Headquarters located at 3100 N. Meridian St.
The goal for this year’s campaign is $3 million, the largest goal ever set by The Salvation Army in Central Indiana. The goal is a direct response to a 16% increase in request for assistance that The Salvation Army has seen in 2009. The money raised will go towards supporting Salvation Army programs and services throughout Central Indiana.
This year’s Tree Sponsor for the Tree of Lights Campaign will once again be Walmart and for the 5th straight year, WISH-TV 8’s Eric Halvorson will return as honorary Tree of Lights Chairman. Also participating in the kick-off event are the Pacers’ Quinn Buckner, Terri Stacy and Joe Staysniak of the WIBC Morning Show, the St. Richard’s singers, The Salvation Army Brass Ensemble, along with corporate sponsors and other supporters of The Salvation Army.
