Like a well-oiled wheel, the annual WISH Tree Toy Shop spanned the course of a day finding homes for toys with thousands of Indianapolis children who might not otherwise have any gifts under their Christmas tree. Parents came to the Toyota Expo Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Thursday, Dec. 15th to shop for their kids from the toys that volunteers and staff had spent many hours collecting, purchasing, sorting and displaying.
During the past month, WISH Tree collected enough toys to serve 2,063 pre-approved children. Through the application process these families are selected and given appointment times to come browse the tables sorted by age and gender. In addition to the toys, The Salvation Army also gave the families a gift card for groceries and hats, gloves, scarves for each child who needs them – provided by AT&T.
Delivery of the toys from the special collections events, to our storage area and to the fairgrounds was made possible by Two Men And A Truck.
We extend our gratitude to these businesses and partners, along with The Pacers Foundation, Walmart, WISH-TV8, Huntington Bank, MCL Restaurant & Bakery, Ed Martin Automotive, Emmis Communications and many other generous donors! With your support, these children will experience a bit of hope and joy this Christmas season! Thank you!
