In a weeks time, students at the Shenandoah Elementary School in Middletown, Indiana raised over $5,600 for The Salvation Army’s Disaster Services Relief for Haiti through their fundraising campaign Drinking Water for Haiti. At noon Feb. 3, 2010 at Shenandoah Elementary, the students presented the funds to The Salvation Army’s Major Brenda Pittman and Development Director Jeff Stanger.

Drinking Water for Haiti was put into affect by every teacher in the school buying enough water bottles for each student in their class. The students were allowed to drink the water in school and were reminded when they drank that the people in Haiti didn’t have this luxury. Read more

Christmas has come and gone, but there is still time to donate to The Salvation Army’s Christmas season fundraiser. The funds raised by the Tree of Lights Campaign will help with the organization’s services throughout the year for central Indiana.

The kick off to the campaign was November 19 and donations will be taken until January 31, 2010. The goal is to raise $3 million this year and The Salvation Army has already reached 70 percent of that goal by raising $2,108,881 thus far. Read more

Army Still Behind In Fundraising

Salvation Army Red Kettles will only be out through Christmas Eve

Salvation Army Red Kettles will only be out through Christmas Eve.

Just 2 days before Christmas, The Salvation Army is in desperate need of the giving spirit.  As of today, the organization is $135,000 behind where it was last year at this time.  This year’s goal for the Tree of Lights fundraising campaign is $2.75 million.

There’s still plenty of time to make a gift to The Salvation Army.  Red Kettles will remain at their locations through Christmas Eve, while online gifts and checks can be donated through the end of January.  This is also a great opportunity for those looking to make that end of the year gift for tax purposes.  The need in central Indiana has never been greater and The Salvation Army is asking Hoosiers to continue to give generously.

Here’s how you can donate:

  • At any of the over 140 Red Kettle locations
  • Online at SalvationArmyIndiana.org or IndyKettle.org.
  • Checks can be mailed to The Salvation Army, 3100 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis IN, 46208.
