These ladies from New Albany were full of Christmas spirit at the Senior Adult Luncheon, Dec. 3 2010.

Seniors from around the state gathered once again for the Christmas Adult Luncheon at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. It’s always a pleasure to remember and serve seniors from nursing homes, retirement centers and various Salvation Army Corps, especially during this busy time of year.

Our volunteers came together in a big way to serve this meal to nearly 400 seniors.  It does take an army to feed a crowd that big! Elizabeth Wilhelm, Volunteer Coordinator, shared that she thought there were more volunteers show up than she’d ever seen. We always appreciate the extra hands and feet to carry out an event such as this one.

In years past, Major Judith Eagle has been the organizer of this event. Major Eagle passed away after a prolonged illness this past fall and is sorely missed by all who knew her. She was known for being the force behind the Senior Adult Luncheon and was remembered in the opening remarks.

Salvation Army Officers from our Divisional Headquarters were in charge of entertainment, including skits, singing and an appearance from a jolly St. Nick. It’s always a great opportunity to bring our senior adults together to treat them with a special meal and share the message of Christmas.
