What was left of Hurricane Ike hit Southern Indiana late Sunday afternoon. Straight line winds and heavy rains caused widespread damage, leaving nearly 100,000 homes without power.

When the storms died down, Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Serivce workers in Evansville, Madison, and New Albany began serving victims in the surrounding areas. Beverages, water, meals, and clean-up kits were distributed to those hit by the storms. Today, a semi truck filled with water and food left Indianapolis to re-stock the disaster service teams. The Salvation Army will continue to provide assistance as needed to those affected by the storm.
