The Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders helped The Salvation Army Kickoff its annual Celebrity Bellringing event.

The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle drive starts today with the annual Celebrity Bellringing event on Monument Circle. Local celebrities, team mascots, and a few surprises will be in front of the Emmis Communications building all day today.

Supporters are encouraged to stop buy and make their donation to The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle. The event runs until 7 pm. Helping to get things started today were the Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders, IUPUI jaguar mascot Jinx, Butler mascot Hink, on-air personalities from WISH-TV8 and the morning show crew from WIBC.

From WISH-TV8 came Angela Buchman, Eric Halvorson and Debbie Knox to ring bells for the event, who have been participants for years now. For Knox this has been an opportunity to see people giving first hand and to thank them for their generosity.

“You see people really giving and the community coming out,” Knox says.

Celebrity Bellringing is part of The Salvation Army Tree of Lights Campaign. This year, the Army hopes to raise $3 million between now and January 31. This is just one event happening in hopes of raising the $3 million.

The next major event is Radiothon, a three day fundraiser in partnership with WIBC starting December 11. You can make your donation online at IndyKettle.org.
