“Team Reliance” is a group of 8th graders whose motto is “Expect Excellence.” On Friday, they joined The Salvation Army’s Bite Back Brigade and plan to share that excellence with other youth in Indy who may be in need of food and shelter. Led by their Social Studies teacher, Christopher Moore, these 8th graders from the Lynhurst 7th and 8th Grade Center on Indy’s westside participated in a canned food drive this fall. With a goal of 600 cans, the students put their enthusiasm for helping to the test and collected 1,100 cans of food to be donated to one of TSA’s local food pantries.
The students plan to continue with projects to benefit The Salvation Army, which is why they were made our newest Bite Back Brigade members. The BBB is a club of sorts, for those who support the effort to end hunger for Hoosiers in Central Indiana. Partnering with our Homelessness Bites campaign, the Bite Back Brigade will help spread awareness about the issue of childhood hunger and families as well. You can join the club on the Homelessness Bites website!
Thank you to the Lynhurst 7th & 8th Grade Center, the teachers and students, and Donatos Pizza for serving your community with excellence!
