It was beautiful day in downtown Indianapolis and you certainly didn’t need a jacket in the nearly 80 degree temperatures. But fans on their way to the Indianapolis Colts game still brought coats and jackets to Lucas Oil Stadium.
The annual pregame coat collection, which supports the Coats for Kids program, brought in nearly 1,300 coats. In addition more than $4,600 was donated which will be used to buy new coats for the program.
Last year, more than 4,000 area children received coats through the Coats for Kids program. Long time partners, WTHR-13, Tuchman Cleaners, and The Salvation Army are hoping to collect and distribute about 10,000 coats this year. To date, about 2,500 coats have been collected.
If you missed the game on Sunday, you can still help by donating a new or gently used coats at any area Tuchman Cleaners. You can also make a cash donation online. The money will be used to purchase new coats for children in need this winter.
