Angela Cain and Chris Wright of WTHR along with Bob Gregory, Mike Washington of Tuchman Cleaners, The Salvation Army's Captain Nick Montgomery and Charming Shoppes' Teena Bryant unveil the 6,000 coat donation to Coats for Kids.

Indianapolis – Charming Shoppes Inc. made an unprecedented donation of more than 6,000 new kids coats to the annual Bob Gregory’s Coats for Kids campaign.  The donation arrived at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Agricultural Building today and will be ready for distribution this Saturday.  Bob Gregory’s Coats for Kids – a 25 year partnership between The Salvation Army, WTHR-13, and Tuchman Cleaners – has always depended on the generosity of individual donors in the central Indiana area, but there has never been a single donation of this scale in the campaign’s history.  The donation is part of Charming Shoppes Keeping Kids Warm program.

The Keeping Kids Warm program was started in 1996 and is currently entering its 16th year of giving. The program is part of Charming Shoppes’ ongoing effort to give back to local communities. The Company, in conjunction with its vendors and suppliers, donates coats and winter accessories to elementary-school children in need. To date, Keeping Kids Warm has donated over 150,000 new coats and winter accessories to children in need at schools all across the country and to our non-profit partners.  Charming Shoppes Inc. has a local distribution center in Greencastle which makes this donation especially meaningful because its giving back in the local communities of central Indiana.

“Charming Shoppes is thrilled to make this donation to Bob Gregory’s Coats for Kids,” said Teena Bryant of the Greencastle distribution center.

Last year, over 4,100 kids received a winter coat, jacket, hat, gloves, and a scarf through Bob Gregory’s Coats for Kids.  This year the need is expected to be even greater.  Thanks to the generosity of Charming Shoppes Inc., we will once again be able to meet this need.
