Ricker’s, am/pm match kettle donations

Major Welch and Jeff Stanger accept donation from Mike Jones and Rickers CEO Jay Ricker

Major Welch and Jeff Stanger accept donation from Mike Jones and Ricker's CEO Jay Ricker

It takes a special kind of CEO to be willing to sacrifice a little pride while challenging his employees to do something good for their neighbors. Jay Ricker is that kind of CEO.

The Salvation Army has been fortunate to partner with Jay Ricker (CEO Ricker Oil, am/pm convenience stores) and his am/pm stores at BP stations across Central Indiana. Leading up to red kettle season, Ricker inspires his employees to talk up donations for the kettles in hopes to become the location to collect the most cash and coins for their neighbors in need. What’s the incentive? How about having your CEO visit your location to pass out free hotdogs to your customers….dressed as a clown!

We joined the celebration at the 52nd and Keystone BP store this afternoon to witness Ricker making good on his promise. Ricker’s team then presented Major Keith Welch and our Development Director, Jeff Stanger with a check for over $13,000 - the amount collected in kettles during the Christmas season and a company matching donation. The Salvation Army will use those funds to continue to offer food, shelter and support services for those in need across Central Indiana.

Thanks to Jay Ricker, Mike Jones and the team at Ricker’s Oil, am/pm, and the participating BP locations as well as all of the generous Hoosiers who donated during the Christmas season!

There is still time to donate to The Salvation Army's 2009 Tree of Lights Campaign.

Christmas has come and gone, but there is still time to donate to The Salvation Army’s Christmas season fundraiser. The funds raised by the Tree of Lights Campaign will help with the organization’s services throughout the year for central Indiana.

The kick off to the campaign was November 19 and donations will be taken until January 31, 2010. The goal is to raise $3 million this year and The Salvation Army has already reached 70 percent of that goal by raising $2,108,881 thus far. Read more

Sonar Studios Supports Salvation Army with Holiday Games

December 24, 2009 by Mike · Leave a Comment

Local software company Sonar Studios has release two new games for the holiday season, and you can support The Salvation Army by playing the games.  The more points you score, the more money The Salvation Army gets, up to $5,000.  In addition, if Sonar Studios get over 5,000 users to play the games, they will donate an additional $2,500 to The Salvation Army in central Indiana.

“We’re excited about this partnership with Sonar Studios,” said Jeff Stanger, Development Director for The Salvation Army.  “It’s another great way people can support The Salvation Army.”

This special offer will only last until January 15, 2010.  You can play the game by going to http://www.sonarstudios.com/holidays/.
