A Father Finds Peace

Another story from County Line Spring 2013

CaptureJACKSON COUNTY — When Kevin Jones lost his wife in an automobile accident, he found himself not only grieving but a single father.

Kevin’s wife was a homemaker. She managed the couple’s three children, the household and finances. With her gone, Kevin wasn’t sure what to do.

“I had three very young children without their mother,” he said. “My wife did everything. I had no idea what to do.”

Kevin soon got behind on taking care of the daily tasks his wife once managed. He was in danger of having all his household’s utilities disconnected.

“I wasn’t really focused on finances after my wife died,” Kevin said. “I just wanted to take care of my children. They just lost their mother and needed my focus to be on them.”

Kevin soon found himself at the Jackson County Salvation Army. He knew he would find help there. The Salvation Army was able to help Kevin get his utility disconnections suspended. It also helped him with grocery assistance and spiritual support.

“The Salvation Army’s help gave me a little bit of peace,” Kevin said. “They made me and my family was taken care of. They even hooked me up with other agencies for additional help.”

When you donate to The Salvation Army, you help people like the Jones family. In a time of sorrow, you help them see positive change in their lives.
