Toy Shop 2012

The number of central Indiana families in need of Christmas assistance grew this year, but The Salvation Army was able to help put smiles on the faces of 839 families through the generosity of Indianapolis Hoosiers.

From 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., parents came to the fairgrounds at their given time and were able to choose two toys per child, a family board game, stocking stuffers, a stuffed animal, hats and gloves (while supplies lasted) and a turkey. Older children received a gift card.¬†Families were assisted by Salvation Army employees and volunteers along with businesses and groups that participated in the Angel and WISH Tree programs: WISH TV, Butler University, IU Health, IU Neurology, Harrison and Moberly, Huntington Bank, Roche, NFL Alumni Indy, Two Men and a Truck and the Girl Scouts. (and more…)

From November 1 through an extended date of December 14, families had the opportunity to apply at Indianapolis-area Salvation Army corps. The Christmas assistance program is aimed at helping working families provide holiday gifts for their children under the age of 16. By the end of Toy Shop, gifts were provided for 2,205 children.
